This weekend was a full, fun weekend around our house. We celebrated Sophie's 4th birthday first. She asked back in April if, for her birthday, we could plant flowers with all her friends. I was all for it! She and I have had so much fun over the past month planning her little "flower party". We cut stickers for a craft, we practiced a game she could play with her friends, we conned her uncle into being a Farmer for a day and reading her favorite book about gardens, and picked out food. Our oldest little girl only turns four once, and we have had SUCH a good time celebrating. Family started rolling in Friday and you could tell Sophie was enjoying every minute of her weekend. Friday night swimming with her cousins Cade and Sarah and Saturday morning helping us all decorate kept us busy. When the party started, you couldn't stop her little smile from making us all know it was what she wanted for her day.
So, after the fun party, we played with our cousins for a few hours and opened gifts. Then the second event of the day began... my dad's 70th birthday celebration. Since it is rare my whole family is together, we sang the birthday song again and let him open his present. Then we all freshened up and headed to the Pub for a nice dinner. My girls didn't stop all day, so Lee and I were just a "titch" worried they may be tired, but we figured they couldn't get too bad. We had enough Iphones and Ipods to let any kid make it through. After about 15 minutes of dinner, Sophie started complaining of her legs hurting. Then her head hurt. Then it REALLY hurt. To the point she was crying and beating her head... a sign it isn't a joke. Lee and I had nothing for her, so he decided to take Sophie and head to Target and get some Advil. After about 15 minutes, I got a call. Sophie lost her cake at the check out line. Four times. And all over their clothes. He encouraged me to stay at dinner and to just get a car seat out of our car and meet him later, but Harper had started her antsiness at this point. So we just called it a night.
We go home with one pale little almost four year old and I am thinking she will now only remember vomiting on her big day, not the fun she had earlier. We take her home and give her a hot bath and the girls and I just snuggle in their bed. After about ten minutes, our Sophie is back. She feels all better, is starving and needs lots of drink. She's good.
The next morning she is starving at breakfast and I just fix whatever she wants, knowing this is not a virus but a case of too much cake, and too little rest. We did learn one thing from this fun night, though. Sophie came up to me and said "hey mommy, i got lots of cake out of my mouth at target. and you know what? if you throw up at a store, you don't have to clean it up! next time i am sick, we can go to target and you won't have to clean it, mommy!"
Poor Lee! Oh my gosh! That is horrible. I'm glad it was just a case of "too much cake". We had a fabulous time at her flowery 4th birthday party.
ReplyDeleteLOL--Love Sophie's observation about not having to clean up if you throw up at Target! :) Glad she's feeling better.
